ROCK PI is a Single Board Computer (SBC) in an ultra-small form factor that offers class-leading performance while leveraging outstanding mechanical compatibility. The ROCK PI offers makers, IoT enthusiasts, hobbyists, PC DIY enthusiasts and others a reliable and extremely capable platform for building and tinkering their ideas into reality.

      Class-Leading Performance

ROCK Pi has a modern and powerful hexa-core ARM based processor, RK3399 inside, it offers significantly improved performance versus other popular SBC boards. All models are equipped with LPDDR4 3200Mb/s RAM and optional high performance eMMC modules, boost all applications.

      Maker Friendly, IoT Connectivity

ROCK Pi features maker friendly expansion options, including a 40-pin GPIO interface that allow for interfacing with a range inputs from buttons, switches, sensors, LEDs, and much more.

ROCK Pi also features a Gbit LAN for network, with dedicated bus and controller, it works without latency under heavy load network applications. On board 802.11 ac wifi offers 2.4G&5G WLAN connectivity. With Bluetooh 5.0, ROCK Pi benefits improved Bluetooth speed and greater range.

ROCK Pi also features one USB 3.0 host and one USB 3.0 OTG ports, each 5Gbps/s, working independently. The USB 3.0 OTG can work as USB device such as Android ADB or USB gadgets. A hardware switch is provided for OTG mode switch.

      AI Capabilities

ROCK Pi supports mainstream AI stack with GPU acceleration. Further more, a dedicated hardware NPU accelerator coming up next for ROCK Pi will boosts complex Machine Learning algorithm and reduce the power.

Industrial standard MIPI CSI connector makes it easy to connect exsit cameras to ROCK Pi and ROCK Pi also supports industrial standard MIPI DSI for LCD and touch screen. With hardware accelerated algorithm, it's great for Computer Vision application, Robotics and much more.

Radxa is prepping a Raspberry Pi pseudo clone called the Rock Pi that runs Linux or Android on a hexa-core Rockchip RK3399 SoC. It joins the RK3399-based NanoPi M4 in closely matching the RPi 3 layout, and it appears it may be the most affordable RK3399 based SBC yet.

      Inside the Rock Pi

The ports on the 85 x 54mm Rock Pi are just where a Pi lover would expect them to be. Unlike the RPi 3B or 3B+, the GbE port is native, giving you at least 939Mbps — about three times the bandwidth. Like the 3B+, it supports Power-over-Ethernet using the same official Raspberry Pi PoE HAT.

The major difference is that the Rock Pi adds an M.2 storage slot for NVMe SSDs. On the other hand, it lacks the M4’s 24-pin GPIO interface, which augments the 40-pin connector found on both boards. The NanoPi M4 also has standard wireless (but no PoE) and has 4x USB 4.0 host ports instead of the 2x 3.0 and 2x 2.0 on the Rock Pi.

The Rock Pi has a microSD slot and an empty eMMC socket in addition to the M.2. You also get one of the main selling points of the RK3399: an HDMI 2.0 port. The board provides 2-lane MIPI-DSI and -CSI interfaces for dual displays and camera attachments, respectively. Other features include an audio jack with mic, an RTC, and a USB Type-C port for wide-range power.

The Rock Pi can run Android 9.0, and “some Linux distributions.” This just in from Tom Cubie: “The official supported Linux distribution is Debian and Ubuntu. Community supported Linux distribution includes Libreelec, Armbian. Also, I am a fan of ChromeOS, so we will have it running on ROCK Pi.”
